Tip Q leaves two Feathers in a line, and E recalls every Feather through enemies for damage. Recalling only those two does not root, so treat it as poke; when a root is needed, use an ability-empowered basic attack to leave a third Feather before pressing E.

When Winning a short trade with W's empower

Tip W boosts attack speed and damage; after Q the empowered basic attacks drop extra feathers, so E recalls 3+ feathers to root.

Tip R makes Xayah untargetable while airborne, avoiding incoming targeted effects and leaving a fan of Feathers. It is not full invulnerability and does not remove existing damage-over-time effects. After landing, add Q and W-enhanced basic attacks, then press E when at least three Feathers will pass through the same champion for the 1.25-second root and recall damage.

When Building five feathers before recalling at least three through one target

Tip Q leaves two feathers and the next three empowered basic attacks leave one each, creating five in total. E roots only when at least three recalled feathers pass through the same champion, so the recall line still has to be aligned with the target.
