When Irelia engages with Bladesurge (Q), Shield of Durand (W)'s taunt interrupts her next dash and chains into Justice Punch (E)'s knock-up. W's active damage reduction helps Galio absorb Ionian Fervor (P)'s stacked attacks and end the short trade.

Fizz can avoid Shield of Durand (W)'s taunt with Playful/Trickster (E), so Galio must bait that cooldown first. Once it is down, W's magic shield and damage reduction absorb the burst, and Justice Punch (E)'s knock-up continues the control chain.

Shield of Durand (W)'s passive magic shield and active damage reduction help Galio survive Akali's burst. Twilight Shroud (W) makes Akali invisible but does not stop area damage, so Galio can predict her position and land Winds of War (Q) plus Shield of Durand's taunt.

Immobile Lux has her post-Light Binding (Q) combo eaten by Shield of Durand (W), and Galio's taunt interrupts her Final Spark (R) aim as he closes in to all-in.
