After Dredge Line (Q) pulls a target, Staggering Blow (P)'s basic-attack root cannot be stopped by a shield alone. Even if Breath of Life (R) cleanses once, Depth Charge (R)'s targeted knock-up remains, making the full chain difficult to remove.

Both champions have pulls, but Nautilus is more durable. Chaining Dredge Line (Q) into Staggering Blow (P)'s basic-attack root and Depth Charge (R)'s knock-up makes the melee fight difficult for the less durable Blitzcrank to survive.

Pyke is a squishy assassin who can't cut through Nautilus's high armor, and once Nautilus latches on with Dredge Line (Q) and the Depth Charge (R) knock-up, Pyke is locked in the CC chain before he can escape with Ghostwater Dive (W) stealth.

Soraka has no dash, so once caught by Dredge Line (Q) she's chained straight into Depth Charge (R) and dies; the moment Nautilus sticks to her, not even Wish (R) healing can keep her alive.

Senna has no instant dash to create distance and is vulnerable to Dredge Line (Q). Once Nautilus closes and applies Staggering Blow (P)'s basic-attack root, Depth Charge (R) can follow, leaving the fragile Senna little room to respond.

Karma uses the Inspire (E) shield and movement speed to shrug off Dredge Line (Q) and dodge his approach, and chips him down with Inner Flame (Q) poke before he can engage, erasing his initiation angle; empowering it with Mantra (P) makes her even harder to pin.

Black Shield (E) fully blocks the CC from Dredge Line (Q) and Depth Charge (R), neutralizing his engage, while a Dark Binding (Q) flips the fight and gets Nautilus caught instead.

Even when Nautilus latches on with Dredge Line (Q), Janna cuts off every engage with the Howling Gale (Q) knock-up and the Monsoon (R) knockback, so his all-in never comes together.

The moment Nautilus dives in, Whimsy (W) polymorph breaks his CC chain, and the Help, Pix! (E) shield plus Wild Growth (R) protect the carry, nullifying his lockdown.
